A young family want to leave their East Oxford home to return to North Oxford which is more suitable for their lifestyle.

Ben and Bryony Leighton, who have two children, Joby, four, and three-year-old Mila, are selling their home in Divinity Road at a guide price of £599,950.

Mr Leighton, a graphic designer and director of Grove Street Media, Summertown, said: “We moved from Jericho three years ago when my wife was expecting our second child, Mila.

“We liked central North Oxford but were impressed by how much more we could get for our money on the other side of town, while remaining within walking distance of the city centre.

“We have been very happy here but plan to move to North Oxford to be within walking distance of Joby¹s school, my office and our family in Summertown.”

Number 189 Divinity Road is an improved and extended five-bedroomed property with a loft conversion.

Mrs Leighton said: “Our semi-detached house is a bit of a tardis. People are always surprised at what is inside!

“As soon as we bought the house, we removed a wall to create a spacious living area, installed three new bathroom suites and extended the kitchen.

“The kitchen is our favourite room and is where we spend most of our time as a family.

“Joby and Mila have good-sized bedrooms and our bedroom has plenty of light from the bay windows.”

She added: “We decided to keep the two second-floor bedrooms separate. One is a spare room and the other Ben¹s music room but the adjoining wall could easily be removed to create a superb master suite, as there is a shower room on that floor.”

Mr Leighton added: “Our two cats, Carlos and Tallulah, love the garden, as do the children.

“We have three mature fruit trees for climbing, a lawn, a patio and a wendy house. It is surprisingly peaceful for a city garden.

“As the house is situated at the top of Divinity Road. we are a stone’s throw away from both the top of South Park and the vibrant culture of the Cowley Road.

“It is an easy walk to top schools such as Magdalen College, Headington School, Rye St Antony and Cheney.

“The house would also suit anyone working at the hospitals, Oxford Brookes University or the Oxford Business Park.”
