A thief snatched a handbag while her victim was enjoying a cup of tea and some cake.
Police are appealing for witnesses after a 55-year-old woman’s grey bag was stolen from Patisserie Valerie, in High Street, Oxford, between 4.30pm and 5pm, on Monday.
The thief was described as a white woman, aged in her early 20s with long brown hair and was wearing a light coloured jacket.
Det Sgt Matt Jarman said: “The victim was sat down having a cup of tea when her bag was stolen.
“I appeal to anyone who in the shop at this time on Monday and saw a woman acting suspiciously to contact police.”
The thief stole a purse containing £45, a driving licence and bank cards.
