PEOPLE from all corners of the county are gearing up to perform stunts in aid of Children in Need on Friday.

From chest shaving and sponsored walks to sitting in a vat of custard, schools, sports clubs and businesses are all doing their bit for the annual BBC campaign.

On Saturday, best friends and Cheney School pupils Shannon Dudley and Chanice Miller, both 13, staged a sponsored walk from Barton to Carfax Tower and back – a round trip of more than six miles.

Dressed in Pudsey ears and homemade T-shirts, they raised more than £500 – and donations are still arriving.

Chanice, of Waynflete Road, said: “It was good, the weather wasn’t that great but we made it.

“I feel very proud that we did it.”

At Icknield Community College in Watlington on Friday, teenagers will stage their own talent show, while at New Marston Primary School in Oxford, children and staff will wear pyjamas for the day.

Down the road at Appleton Primary School children are invited to school in their pyjamas for a Bedtime Read at 6pm in the school hall.

High Sheriff of Oxford Richard Dick will be among the readers and the Appleton Women’s Institute will serve hot chocolate and cookies.

In the south of the county, children at The Old Station Nursery at RAF Benson will watch two staff members climb into a vat of custard between 8.45am and 10am.

In west Oxfordshire, pupils at Woodstock Primary School will be covering themselves in Pudsey-style spots for charity.

Back in Oxford, Jane Kerry will have her head shaved at the Bullnose Morris pub in Cuddesdon Way, Blackbird Leys.
