Sir – Page 22 of the Weekend section (November 5) is headed Education. The main article reports a study by the Independent Schools Council arguing that the Government under-reports the cost of state education and that fee-paying schools provide value for money.
The article carries no authorial byline. There are quotes from both the ISC’s chief executive and its head of research, yet no word from the state sector.
The entire article reads like a press release on behalf of private schools — all that’s missing is the word Advertisement at the top of the page. Surely we expect more objective journalism from our The Oxford Times.
