Sir – As a doctor working in Jericho for the past 30 years (and having been delivered into the world in the Walton Street maternity hospital), I would like to comment further on the letters concerning the historic plaque removed from the Radcliffe Infirmary Maternity Hospital, on its demolition.
The Primary Care Trust is collaborating with the Oxford University’s architects in the erection of a new Jericho Health Centre building on the Radcliffe Infirmary site, bordering on to Walton Street.
I would like to make a plea that the Epstein Relief be prominently placed on this new Health Centre building.
Then the work of so many illustrious Oxford doctors (such as Prof Chassar Moir and Prof Sir John Stallworthy) who have worked at the maternity hospital, can be appropriately commemorated on a new NHS building on the original site.
Judy Bogdanor, GP, Jericho Health Centre
