BICESTER'S oldest church is set to reopen later this month after a £230,000 facelift.

St Edburg’s Church, Church Street, which is 900 years old, closed its doors in September.

The work has included rewiring, installing lighting and audio visual systems, tackling dry rot and rising damp, and complete redecoration.

The keys are due to be handed back on Friday, November 27, with the first service expected to take place the following Sunday.

The church needs to raise another £750,000 for phase two of the renovation which involves redesigning the interior and removing the pews and pulpit.
