THE amazing sights and sounds of wildlife will come to life for Oxfordshire communities thanks to £2,347 from the Lottery Awards for All to the RSPB Oxford Local Group.

Schools, community groups and the hard of hearing and visually impaired will benefit from new state-of-the-art sound and projection equipment bought by the group to improve its wildlife talks and film shows.

The RSPB Oxford Local Group gives more than 20 talks about birds, animals and insects across the county each year.

Illustrated talks are held at 7.45pm on the first Thursday (second Thursday in January 2010) of each month this winter in the hall at Sandhills School, Terrett Avenue, Oxford — opposite the Thornhill Park and Ride.

Ian Kilshaw, Oxford local group leader, said: “We’re delighted with the Awards for All grant. The equipment means we can show a wider range of quality wildlife films and talks, and more of the community can enjoy them and be inspired.”
