TWO ambulance workers needed treatment after inhaling smoke when their vehicle caught fire.
The incident happened shortly after midnight yesterday on the westbound side of the A40 Witney Bypass, between the B4047 Burford Road and A415 Ducklington Lane.
A fire crew, police and paramedics were called to the scene.
Philippa Kay, from South Central Ambulance Service, said a male emergency care assistant and a female ambulance technician were treated for the effects of inhaling smoke at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital.
She said: “They were able to pull over safely to the side of the road.
“The crew called control to send for another vehicle so that the emergency they were due to attend would be dealt with without a significant delay.
“An investigation will now take place to establish how the fire started.”
