Police are appealing for witnesses after an arson attack on a car in Banbury.

Officers were notified of the arson attack in Waterworks Lane by Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service after they were called to the scene at about 4.45pm on Saturday.

Police said 'an accelerant' had been poured over the rear screen of the car, a silver Peugeot 307, and set alight, causing extensive damage.

PC Wes Turner said: “This happened in the middle of the afternoon and someone must have seen what happened. I would urge them to contact me as soon as possible so we can catch whoever was responsible.”

Anyone with information can contact PC Turner via the Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505, or alternatively call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
