Police community support officers in Oxford can now hand out fines to anyone caught dropping litter.
Extra powers were handed to the city’s 57 Pcsos following a vote at Oxford City Council’s decision-making executive board.
From today, anyone spotted by a Pcso dropping litter, throwing rubbish from a car, leaving cigarettes or chewing gum on the floor, fly-posting and scrawling graffiti faces an £80 on-the-spot fine.
The move has been backed by police and councillors in a bid to clean up the city.
