Police today appealed for witnesses after burglars broke into a garage in Burwell Drive, Witney, and stole two motocross bikes worth £3,700.

Burglars broke the padlock to the garage of the property using bolt croppers and the bikes yesterday sometime before 4pm.

Police said the first motorcycle, a purple four-stroke Honda CRF250 had black wheels with red hubcaps. It has ‘Honda’ embossed in gold on the engine casing and ‘JACE 55’ on a plate under the handle bars. The number ‘555’ is on the rear mudguard, with ‘PROGUARD’ embossed on the fork guard.

This bike is worth approximately £2,500.

Police said the second motorbike, a red, green and brown two-stroke Honda CR85 had a smaller frame and small, silver wheels.

It has white lower fork protectors, and carries a front plaque with ‘CARLY 12’ on it. There is a silencer on the exhaust and the rear mudguard is drilled through and zip-tied together.

This bike is worth approximately £1,200.

Neither motorbike has registration plates.

Det Con Grahame Lea said: “These bikes are quite expensive and very sought-after. We are asking people to keep an eye out for them. If you see either of these bikes for sale, and you suspect that they may be stolen, then please contact the police on 0845 8 505 505.
