A teenager accused of stubbing out a cigarette on his ex-girlfriend’s face was jailed today for nearly two years.

Liam Pipkin, of Freelands Road, East Oxford, was also given an antisocial behaviour order after beating up his former partner Bethan Davies and sending her menacing phone messages.

In a statement read to Oxford Crown Court Miss Davies said: “He dragged me into the bedroom and started hitting me.

“I was screaming. He dropped a cigarette and he stubbed it out on my face.”

Henry James, prosecuting, told the court: “She describes receiving a very large number of communications. There were threats to the family and threats to her.”

Pipkin, 19, admitted one charge of common assault and two charges of sending malicious communications.

He also admitted breaching a community order given to him for possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply in July 2007.

James Reilly, defending, said Pipkin did not accept he had stubbed out a cigarette on Miss Davies’ face during the attack in October. He added: “He said they had an argument and that she hit him and he hit her back. It wasn’t in self-defence — he was angry.”

Judge Julian Hall gave Pipkin a five-year Asbo, banning him from sending threatening messages by telephone and contacting Miss Davies, before jailing him for 21 months.

He said: “I think you should be kept out of the way for a while.”
