Model Penny Lancaster-Stewart and local radio presenter Giselle Ruskin will be leading a blaze of pink through the county this month.

They are among more than 800 women to have signed up for this year’s Blenheim Palace & Cotswolds Ribbon Walk in aid of Breast Cancer Care, which takes place on Saturday, May 30.

Ms Lancaster-Stewart, right, the wife of singer Rod Stewart, urged more women to volunteer.

She said: “We need as many families, friends and individuals as possible to register –– the more people who take part, the more money we’ll raise.

“I’m delighted to be taking part –— the route is absolutely stunning and it should be a fun day.”

Heart FM DJ Giselle, 34, from Cowley, added: “I’m really lucky because I don’t actually know anybody who’s had breast cancer, but whenever I speak to friends and family I realise I am in the minority.

“The ribbon walk just seemed a really good thing to support.

“My fitness levels at the beginning of the year weren’t great, but I have been swimming and going to the gym to make myself as fit as I can.

“I think it’s going to be a really nice day — we have had some nice weather recently and there will be a great atmosphere.

“The only thing I am not looking forward to is if people ask for a picture of me with Penny Lancaster because she’s a 6ft model.”

Janet Moran, 41, from Witney, took part in the ribbon walk last year.

She said: “It was an amazing experience. I was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago and saw the walk as the perfect opportunity to give something back.

“It was so nice to walk with lovely people who I would usually never meet.

“Most were walking for people who had been affected by breast cancer in some way or other.

“We all found it very emotional at times, but with such great morale we definitely all helped each other to reach the finish line."

Participants, who have the option of walking 10 or 20 miles, are asked to try and raise £250, all of which is donated to Breast Cancer Care to fund services likes its helpline, website, courses and counselling.

Entry costs £30, which pays for a support pack with information on training and fundraising, and a pink T-shirt to wear on the day.

To enter, visit ribbonwalk.org.uk or call 0870 1450101.
