BRITAIN’S Got Talent’s contestant Fabia Cerra has had a book telling the story of her life published.

The voluptuous mother-of-one – who achieved overnight fame by performing a Burlesque-style strip routine in front of almost 12 million viewers of the ITV show – said she felt enormously proud to have her memoir In 2 Minds on sale.

Ms Cerra, 35, from Centaury Place, in Greater Leys, Oxford, wrote the book in 2007.

Publication was brought forward from June to latch onto publicity from her show-stopping performance on national television last month.

The book follows her battles with bi-polar depression, periods of sexual, physical and emotional abuse and her descent into drug use.

Also covered are her days as a childhood disco dancing champion, post natal depression and three suicide attempts.

Ms Cerra said she had worked through her demons with the help of her long-term partner. She said she hoped the book would inspire other people suffering from similar mental health issues to seek help and added: “I am very happy with the book.

“It is 100 per cent honest. I am happy my message is out there; if it helps one person to get help, then I have done my job.

“People should not be ashamed of suffering from a mind-related illness. It’s not as bad as people make out. It can be controlled, and is actually part of who you are.”

In 2 Minds is published by Mental Health Publisher Chipmunka, and went on sale on amazon.co.uk last week.

Ms Cerra said the book took her a year to write and that despite the pain of dragging up old memories, it had helped her come to terms with her past.

She added: “Writing can be therapeutic. You can see what is in front of you and what you have been through.

“I forgave everyone that crossed me; I forgave myself and I moved on. Now I am so much happier with the way I look at life. I now know what is important.”

Ms Cerra is currently working on her second book, about her work as a beauty therapist, while awaiting a call from Britain’s Got Talent producers to see when they want her to film her next audition.
