A knife was held to a taxi driver’s throat during an attempted robbery just yards from an Oxford police station.

The taxi was called to an address in Cleveland Drive,close to Cowley police station at about 11.30pm last night.

Two men got in before one of them held a knife to the driver’s throat and demanded cash.

The driver reversed suddenly, surprising the robbers, who got out and fled.

One of the robbers wais about 6ft and aged about 16. The other is thought to be in his 20s and was much shorter.

Both were wearing dark tops and jeans.
