It was the end when the final First Great Western services operated by a Class 180 Adelante train ran during the evening rush-hour.

The 5.51pm from London to Worcester via Oxford and the Cotswold Line and a return service leaving Worcester at 8.59pm on Friday marked the end of the train’s short and chequered career with FGW.

They were delivered in 2001 but were plagued by reliability problems and FGW eventually withdraw them.

Most Adelantes were handed back to the leasing firm which owns them last year, but three of the 14 trains remained with FGW for another 12 months until replacements arrived.
