THE sound of children’s voices rose to the rafters of Oxford’s Christ Church Cathedral at a special concert.

Three city primary schools joined choristers and pupils from Christ Church Cathedral School for a performance of international folk songs.

Thursday’s concert marked the end of a term’s collaboration between the young singers.

Cathedral School headteacher Martin Bruce said: “It went very well and we were very pleased.

“What we are doing is getting into these primary schools pretty much on a weekly basis and working with the children and staff to help them become confident singing leaders.”

Pupils from St Christopher’s Primary School, in Temple Road, Cowley, St Francis Primary School in Horspath Road, Cowley, and Wood Farm Primary School in Titup Hall Drive, sang at the concert.

Seven-year-old Elyse Thomas-Collaire, from St Francis Primary School, was among those taking part. She said: “I thought the concert was brilliant. I like singing very much and I liked the songs that were chosen.”
