A Wantage chef cooked a mouth-watering menu and won himself a place in the final of a national contest.
Mark Ord, head chef of Sanctuary Care Nursing Home, in Garston Lane, went head-to-head with three other chefs in the South East regional finals of the National Association of Care Catering’s Cook of the Year Competition.
His three-course menu – comprising roast pork belly stuffed with black pudding, followed by a plum crumble tart with almond frangipane – did not disappoint a panel of judges, at Brooklands College, in Weybridge.
Judges chose Mr Ord to represent the region at the national final in Birmingham on July 9.
The 48-year-old, from Haywards Close, will compete against five other regional winners in a 90-minute cook-off.
