Thames Valley Police’s annual Community Policing Awards has just weeks left to run, with nominations due by April 17.

The awards recognise staff who have excelled in their neighbourhoods.

They give residents, community organisations, businesses and colleagues the opportunity to nominate a member of Thames Valley Police who they believe deserves recognition for their outstanding work in the community.

Deputy Chief Constable Francis Habgood said: “This is a chance for everyone to recognise the vital work done within neighbourhoods in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire.

"The competition will be fierce and I look forward to selecting deserving winners.”

Last year, there were more than 200 nominations during the five-week campaign.

Nominees are judged on the relationships they have built with local communities and the initiatives they have introduced to reduce crime and disorder. The more nominations candidates receive, the more likely they are to be short-listed.

Nomination forms are available at local police stations and main libraries.

Forms have also been sent to parish councils. Alternatively forms can be downloaded from the website www.thamesvalley.police.uk
