A former public school boy was jailed for five years today after police found drugs worth more than £40,000 in his home.

Officers uncovered cocaine, cannabis, magic mushrooms and nearly 4,000 ecstasy pills after raiding Gregory Manning’s home in River View, Kennington, in August.

Oxford Crown Court heard the former Magdalen College School pupil’s life had been destroyed by drugs, which he first took at the age of 13.

Sam Mainds, prosecuting, said: “It is right to say police discovered a warehouse of drugs of every type and description. Some of the drugs were new as far as the forensic scientists were concerned.”

He added police also found scales, £2,340 in cash, packaging and hand-written lists relating to drug dealing at the house.

Manning, 31, admitted three charges of possessing drugs with intent to supply, and four charges of possession.

Kieran Galvin, defending, said Manning had been addicted to cocaine but was not a violent man.

Judge Julian Hall said: “You richly deserve a long prison sentence.”

Speaking outside court, Pc Jon Shaw said: “There were substances which were later found to be class A drugs so rare they had not been seen in Europe before."
