Junior hip hoppers, MCs and singers will perform at a fundraiser for talented dancers in Oxford.

Tomorrow night’s KC’s School of Dance fundraiser is aimed at collecting as much cash as possible for some of the world’s greatest hip hop dancers.

The child boppers, who train at the Blackbird Leys Leisure Centre, have performed at the World Hip Hop Dance Championships for the last two years.

Four of the group will also travel to Denmark next weekend to compete for titles at the European Hip Hop Dance Championships.

But the struggle of paying for flights, accommodation and food on the foreign excursions has meant the dance troupe have begun fundraising to subsidise the trips.

They have already raised more than £500 through a street performance in Cowley and bag packing at Sainsbury’s in Heyford Hill.

Tomorrow night, they will be joined on stage by talented MCs at the Holy Family Church, in Cuddesdon Way.

Caroline De Silva, whose son Levon is the world under-16 solo hip hop dance champion, said: "We want as many people as possible to come. It is going to be fun and something for the whole family to take part in.

"It will bring the community together.

"Dancing is everything to them. It is what they live for. A lot of them want to make it their career."

Levon, from Coriander Way, Greater Leys, said: "I think people will donate because it is for a great reason. It means everything to me. It will be a good night with lots of fun and games."

The group’s instructor Kelly Chandler said: "The dancers are all from Rose Hill, Blackbird Leys and Greater Leys, and I feel people from the community should support people like this that are doing really well.

"There should be a huge amount of pride in them."

A selection of West Indian and European food will be on sale at the event, which will also feature a raffle and karaoke contest.

Tickets for the event, which runs from 6pm to 11pm, will be available on the door and cost £3 for adults and £1 for children.
