A fire in a flat in Oxford this morning is being treated as arson.

Police and firefighters were called to the property on the corner of London Road and Gladstone Road in Headington at 7.30am.

Dc Debbie North, of Oxford CID, said: "We are treating the fire as suspicious.

"Thankfully nobody was in the flat at the time and it did not affect the other flats in the building. I appeal to anyone who was in the Headington area this morning and witnessed somebody acting suspiciously in London Road, to contact police immediately."

Anyone with information should contact police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
