If there's one thing that really, really winds me up it's the professional footballers that are not worth anything like the money they are paid.
I understand that the mega-millions in the Premiership means that players can demand more, and are paid more, than elsewhere - but isn't it time clubs clamped down?
Let me explain.
At Manchester United, for example, I would not pay £40 (or whatever it is) for a decent ticket to watch players like Silvestre, Evra, Anderson, Carrick, Giggs (I would have done 10 years ago) and Saha every week.
Yes, they are all good players and are more skilful than you or I could ever dream of, but to be paid somewhere in the region of (reportedly) £40,000-£80,000 a week is an insult to you and me.
On the other hand, Man Utd are about to offer Cristiano Ronaldo a momumental new deal that will shatter their pay structure - but he's worth every penny.
Here is a player who most of Britain would happily pay £40 a match just to watch him - and so he deserves every penny.
It's the same at Chelsea - Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Joe Cole are all worth their mega-bucks deal, but do Kalou, Malouda et al deserve £40,000 a week - no way!
Clubs must pay players what they deserve, and if that means you highest earner is on £150,000 a week and another regular first-teamer on £20,000 - so be it.
Will it happen? No chance!
