High-flyers across Oxfordshire are celebrating after achieving a bumper crop of GCSEs.

At Headington School, Oxford, five girls gained straight A* grades, four of which scored 12 and one managed 11.
Headteacher Anne Couttscor said: "With 78.7 per cent of all grades at A* or A, and five girls getting 11 or 12 straight A*s, I am proud of these results.
"Girls and staff have worked hard to achieve this and I congratulate them.
"I am delighted to see them do so well."
At SS Helen and Katherine School, in Abingdon, 63.4 per cent of the results achieved were at A* - and 42 girls achieved 8 or more A* grades.

"I am very much looking forward to leading the school and becoming part of the community."
