TWO Oxfordshire drivers have been in court recently for breaking the law.

Cuong Tran and Di Lee both appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Courts for separate offences after being charged under the Road Traffic Act 1988.

Lee, of Woodstock Road Yarnton, appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on February 20 this year charged with driving without using a seatbelt.

The 30-year-old was caught on the A34 near Hinksey driving a Ford vehicle and not wearing a seatbelt on July 2 last year.

He pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity in court was sentenced. He was ordered to pay a fine of £80, court courts of £20 and a victim surcharge of £20.

The court heard the case was reopened after Lee was previously sentenced for failing to provide his identity to police when asked.

Tran, of Redwing Close, Bicester, was charged with a different traffic offence – namely driving without third-party insurance and without a licence.

The 31-year-old was caught in West Yorkshire on January 18 this year driving a vehicle he wasn’t insured on and without a valid driving licence.

He pleaded guilty at the same court on April 8 this year and was fined £660. He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £264 and court costs of £90.

His driving record was also endorsed with seven penalty points.

They both avoided disqualification.
