A CONVICTED sexual predator has appeared in court again for further online sex offences.

Aaron Baker-Bennett, 31, was first jailed in 2016 for two years after pressuring a 14-year-old girl into sending him ‘sexualised’ messages online.

He appeared at Oxford Crown Court on Tuesday (March 26) charged with eight counts – including further online communication with a child.

Baker-Bennett, of Buckthorne Lane, Cholsey, admitted to making sexually suggestive terms to the child, such as ‘baby girl’, as well as referring to parts of her anatomy and encouraging her to send indecent images.

After pleading guilty, Baker-Bennett was due to be sentenced for two counts of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), two counts of making indecent images – namely six Category C images – one count of engaging in sexual communication with a child, two counts of failing to comply with the notifications of the sex offenders register, and one count of causing or inciting the sexual exploitation of a child.

However, the case has been adjourned for an addendum to the pre-sentence report as it had only addressed the breaches of the SHPO as opposed to the more serious offences of messaging a child.

It was heard that when police seized Baker-Bennett’s devices, over 60,000 images were found.

Prosecutor Josh Stamp-Simon said it would take police about three to 10 months to download and analyse the images so the Crown Prosecution Service are content for the sentencing to take place despite the potential for more indecent images to be found.

Defence barrister Peter de Feu told the court that Baker-Bennett has confided that the images of ‘benign’.

Mr de Feu also suggested an adjournment could take place in order for a psychiatric report to take place.

He said: “There is real concern about his mental health, he’s never had a report or a psychiatric report. It may be that his mental health may give us some insight into the offending.”

It was heard that Baker-Bennett is being treated for depression and anxiety while in custody and has been seeking out therapy course he can take while in prison.

Judge Nigel Daly agreed to adjourn the sentencing, stating: “I propose to adjourn for an addendum report as the initial report clearly does not cover the more serious matters and it may be they’re looking at alternatives that are attractive.

“I’m reluctant to order a psychiatric report but if the probation service feels it’s appropriate then they can let me know.”

Baker-Bennett is now scheduled to be sentenced at the same court on April 26.
