Around 900 participants are preparing to run five miles through the grounds of Blenheim Palace this Sunday, March 24, to raise funds for Oxford Children’s Hospital.

The annual OX5 RUN supports the hospital and children’s services facilitated by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

There will be runners from the age of 10 to 80, hospital doctors, nurses, and parents of patients treated there, and regional businesses.

Included among the runners is a team of 35 who will run in support of 14-year-old patient Gio Santos, the official race starter, who is receiving care for cancer.

Sarah Vaccari from the Oxford Hospitals Charity said: "We are so excited for this Sunday’s OX5 RUN.

"This is our biggest annual fundraiser for the children’s hospital, and the money this event raises helps us do so much to help local children in hospital.

“Some of the runners take part every single year, and it is always so wonderful to see so many familiar faces.

"It’s a really special event and we would like to share our thanks with Blenheim Palace, our sponsors Breckon & Breckon and Motofix, Get Radio, all our volunteers on the day and of course every single person taking part.”

The OX5 RUN has been going for 23 years and hopes to raise £100,000 this year.

Late entries are welcome, with gates to Blenheim opening at 8.30am.

The warm-up begins at 10.10am with the run starting at 10.30am.
