AFTER assaulting a woman and chasing her with a kitchen knife, a man has been jailed.

Cameron Evans, 30, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to a count each of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault by beating and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Monday (March 18) to two years imprisonment.

The court heard that between 7am and 10am on September 29 last year, Evans entered the home address of his victim in Drayton.

He then assaulted the victim by slapping and punching her to the face, neck and back. 

He also her over the head with a crutch.

The victim escaped the property, but Evans followed them, armed with a kitchen knife.

Several members of the public saw and Evans promptly arrested.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Leah Boswell of the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit, said: “Evans subjected his victim to a frightening ordeal over a number of hours, and caused her injuries as a result of his actions.

“I am pleased that he has been given a custodial sentence as a result of his actions.

“Thames Valley Police does not tolerate domestic abuse in any form. We would urge victims to come forward to report this to us, and we will investigate and bring offenders to justice.”
