A riverside pub on the edge of Oxford has ranked alongside the UK’s best pub Sunday roasts.
The Perch in Binsey Lane was listed as providing the 13th best pub roast dinner in the country according to EnjoyTravel.com’s latest list.
As many as 20 watering holes are listed nationwide with the rural pub making the cut and in doing so being the only of the entries from Oxford.
The pub is a 17th century thatched inn which can be found in the ancient village of Binsey just outside of Oxford.
One of the oldest pubs in the Oxford area, The Perch describes itself as “An Oxford institution as old as the university”.
The pub is just a few minutes away from Port Meadow and was a frequent haunt of Inspector Morse before being renovated in the spring of 2015.
Describing The Perch, the list read: “With a history dating back around 800 years, this pub has been a local favourite and continues to be so, with a warm and rustic atmosphere, prime riverside location, and some of the best food around, of which the roasts certainly come out on top.
“With classic options like beef, pork, and lamb available, plus vegan and vegetarian options, everyone is well looked after here.
“Bring your dog along too! Roasts start at £18.95.”
Finishing 13th, The Perch held off fierce competition from pubs in Bristol, Cardiff and Newcastle but was ranked lower than businesses in Brighton, London and Manchester.
