Several young musicians have joined an Oxfordshire silver band after completing their training.

Wantage Silver Band welcomed seven new players to the group following a successful introductory course.

The band is based on Reading Road in the town and has been training musicians of all ages since its inception in 1972.

It is also a registered charity dedicated to education in music by practice and performance with the group’s first ever contest coming in 1976.

A spokesperson for the band said: “Our Ready for Band course concluded today with an open rehearsal for family and friends.

“We will have seven enthusiastic new players joining Beginner Band after Easter.

“Our next course will run later in the summer term for new brass and percussion players wishing to join Wantage Silver Band.”
