A "valued and dedicated" member of staff at a Sonning Common care home is marking 15 years of working for the same company.
Sarah Barrington, a team member of Aria Care's Abbeycrest Nursing Home initially joined in September 2013, after being persuaded by her former manager at Hulcott Nursing Home in Aylesbury, where she had worked for four years.
Ms Barrington said: "The manager at Hulcott moved to Abbeycrest and urged me to join.
"We both occasionally helped in the kitchen, which fascinated me while studying for my NVQ in cookery.
"Later, I took a bakery course, envisioning residents at Abbeycrest enjoying French patisserie and cakes I made for them."
Ms Barrington has played a role in organising various events for residents over the years, including many garden parties, and one which included an Olympic torch bearer as the guest of honour,
She spoke about her plans for the future as she looks to adopt modern systems and methods, especially in improving housekeeping procedures to achieve higher quality and efficiency.
When asked what ‘care from the heart’ means to her, Ms Barrington said: "It’s about really loving what you are doing and being confident that you have the skills and knowledge to make a difference to the people you care for."
Jerry Abeya, home manager at Abbeycrest, said: "Sarah is an amazing admin, and I consider myself very fortunate to have the opportunity to work alongside her."
