A BMW was stolen in Oxfordshire before it was set on fire in a car park and completely destroyed.

A silver 2007 BMW 1 series was stolen without keys from a property in Abingdon between 6pm and 9pm on Sunday, March 3.

The vehicle was located in the Barrow Hills car park and had been destroyed through arson.

Thames Valley Police is now appealing for witnesses to the aggravated theft after releasing some information on the offender to the public.

He is described as a man aged in his mid 20s and of slim build.

He was wearing all black, including a black hooded-jumper and a face covering. He was also carrying a rucksack.

Investigating officer PC Matthew Osborne, based at Abingdon Police Station, said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or anyone with information about what happened, to please come forward.

“We’d ask anyone with dash-cam or personal CCTV in the Abingdon area to please check any footage in case it has captured anything that may assist our investigation.

“Additionally, if anyone saw anyone acting suspiciously in the Barrow Hills car park area or Audlett Drive, Abingdon between 8.30pm and 9pm on 3 March when the vehicle was located alight, then please contact the force.
