A Wallingford store has marked its first anniversary of participating in an initiative to recycle old trainers.
Runwize Sports in St Mary’s Street offers a collection point for anyone who wishes to pass on their old trainers as part of the JogOn initiative to remove one million running shoes from landfill.
Owner Nina Sarpong first jumped on board after seeing a local running club with a collection box for the scheme, also wishing to help others.

Ms Sarpong said: “Once we send our boxes off, they’re redistributed and 95 per cent of the trainers get reused, some go to councils and from there to children in schools.
“Since we started collecting a year ago we’ve had nearly five hundred pairs, sending off at least one box a month, with at least 30 pairs in. Every time I post one out they say thank you via social media.
“We’ll be keeping our collection point in place, so feel free to drop off your unwanted trainers in store."
