A stalker was pulled over and arrested while driving on an Oxfordshire A-road, police have said.

Thames Valley Police stopped the motorist on the A40 near Burford yesterday (Wednesday, February 14).

Officers from the force’s rural crime taskforce were involved in the operation alongside response teams.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of stalking offences.

A police spokesperson said: “Thank you for the public's patience whilst this was safely resolved.”

It came on a busy day for the rural crime taskforce which also arrested a Faringdon man on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

The taskforce searched his property and found stolen horse tack linked to a burglary in Essex in August.

Police recovered the horse tack – which will be returned to the owner – and arrested and interviewed the suspect.

The spokesperson said: “This would not have been possible without the owner providing police photo records of his horse tack and unique saddle numbers.”
