A reformed Oxfordshire psychedelic rock group has been announced to perform at an upcoming rock night at Didcot Civic Hall.

Opal Butterfly will take to the stage at the charity rock night on Saturday, February 10 (at the civic hall in Britwell Road) in addition to other bands including The Crimps and Celestial.

The event will raise money for Didcot Foodbank and Felix Fund, with doors opening at 6pm.

Opal Butterfly was formerly signed by CBS and released three records between 1968 and 1970.

Lead guitarist Robbie Milne shared an appeal to restart the band in April 2022, avid to play gigs around Oxfordshire and “make some noise locally.” He encouraged all musicians to join.

Mr Milne said: “After several recruitment drives, I managed to find three great players and a wonderful female vocalist.

“We have been solidly rehearsing in a studio in Sutton Courtenay for several months and are now match ready for gigs.

"We did play at a private garden party in September which gave us a chance to test out our material and I'm pleased to say that it was well received.

“We readily agreed to the rock night when approached by the town council."
