A Queen Anne era wine glass has fetched almost £10,000 at an auction in the Cotswolds.
It was one of the highest single prices secured at the Kinghams Auctioneers December fine and decorative arts auction.
The item, dating from around 1710, is relatively petite, standing at 18 cm high, and had been discarded among unwanted items by a client.
Described as "rare" by Kinghams’ glass specialist, it also featured a conical bowl with a single air drop to the lower stem, attracting substantial pre-sale interest from collectors, connoisseurs, and enthusiasts in wine-related antiques and glass.
Despite having an initial estimate of £500-800, the strength of the current market took the glass to a final price of £9,750.
Kinghams ended 2023 on a high, after realising record prices across their fine and decorative arts selection in December.
