Police stopped 17 speeding drivers in a two hour operation near Banbury this morning.
Officers pulled over motorists exceeding the limit at Wroxton in north Oxfordshire between 8am and 10am.
Ten drivers received roadside education from Oxfordshire County Council road safety officers, while the remaining seven drivers, who were driving at higher speeds, were handed a three point endorsement on their licence and a £60 fine.
Pc Mark Pilling said: "This check was set up as a result of community concerns. We have operated a number of speed checks at this location in the last year, and have seen the number of drivers exceeding the limit decline, which is encouraging.
"However, we will continue to promote safer driving through education and enforcement and motorists can expect to see further speed checks at this site in the future."
The check was conducted as a result of speeding being identified as a priority by the Neighbourhood Action Group and as part of the ongoing Operation Pride campaign across Oxfordshire.
