Sir - We are organizing a mass play-in at the Alexandra Courts, in North Oxford, on Sunday, June 22, between 3pm and 5pm to show city councillors the extent of opposition to the scheme to privatise this public open space.
Local politicians have used your pages to publicly distance themselves from the city's unfortunate proposal to lease the courts to a private tennis club.
Despite this apparent backtracking, the plans will still be voted on in the next couple of months. Anyone eager to demonstrate their concerns should come to the courts on Sunday afternoon, ready to swing an elegant racket or just to have a cup of tea. No age limits, upper or lower.
