Sir - It is very admirable for the council to consider implementing a 20mph speed limit.

However until those who are caught speeding are penalised and I mean seriously penalised so that it hurts them and their families, then no matter what speed limit is put in place it will be ignored. Unnecessary speed limits are being put on town roads and country roads all over the country. Speed limits are being put in place because the road is considered to be dangerous.

The only dangerous road is a poorly-surfaced road. The danger is the drivers. So the dangerous driver needs to be prevented from using the roads by being banned. Not for the 28 days, but for long periods and the record should remain on their licence and doubled for the next offence and the next and the next etc. It won't happen under this nanny state.
