The parents of a west Oxfordshire man who died in a car crash in Gloucestershire spoke tonight of a football-mad son who was liked by everyone.

Twenty-year-old Ryan Bott, of The Sands, Milton-under-Wychwood, was one of six people killed in the head-on crash on the A429 between Moreton-in-Marsh and Stow-on-the-Wold last night.

Three others are fighting for their lives in hospital after the collision involving a Peugeot 306 and a VW Passat at 9.20pm on Friday.

All four passengers of the Peugeot, including Mr Bott,a window cleaner, died at the scene.

The driver of the VW also died at the scene and his front-seat passenger was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Speaking at the family home this evening, Mr Bott's mother Valerie Hornsby said: "It is not right that this has happened. Everyone liked him - it is always the nice ones that go."

His father Richard said: "He was so well liked and he made friends wherever he went."

Mr Bott supported Manchester United and played football for Enstone and Middle Barton.

Already friends and relatives of Mr Bott have set up a memorial group on the social networking website Facebook and also paid tribute to him.

Superintendent Jerry Foster-Turner, of Gloucestershire police, said: "This is one of the worst losses of life on Gloucestershire roads for many years and our thoughts are with the families of all the people involved."

Sergeant Kevin Roseblade added: "It will impact far and wide and for a long time to come."

The other victims have not been officially identified.
