A series of strange posters have been spotted on a street in the city, but what do they mean?

The billboard on the side of Pack and Send in Mill Street was brought to the attention of the Oxford Mail by a reader, who was confused at what the images mean as they do not appear to advertise anything or have a particular point.

The first image that appeared was a Father Christmas with the hashtag #Ifoundsantaoxford, at Easter this was followed by a dodo – surrounded by yellow and blue eggs - with the hashtag #dodoofosney, then a picture of a street in Oxford and now a dog looking at the poster of the street.

Initial queries with the city and county council were blank, with neither council responsible for the posters or the maintenance of the billboard.

A search of the hashtags on social media also came up relatively empty handed, with no links to any sort of artist or campaign and one only person having used the Father Christmas hashtag.

Reaching out to Pack and Send finally revealed an answer.

A member of staff at the business explained they used to use the billboard for commercial purposes but these adverts were often graffitied.

The business stopped using the billboard to advertise and a resident on the street started creating fun images to put in the billboard instead.

The member of staff, however, did not know the name of the mysterious female artist nor had any contact details for her.
