EVERYBODY has been in bed, eyes wide open, desperate to fall asleep.

Maybe I scrolled on my phone too long before bed but now it’s midnight and I can’t sleep. The later it becomes the more annoyed I get, the more annoyed I get the harder it becomes to sleep.

What I’d usually do is reach over to my phone and put on a relaxing video on YouTube until I drift away.

But since buying ThisWorks deep sleep pillow spray – these occurrences have become less and less.

Oxford Mail:

I’m not convinced it’s a magic bottle with a potion inside that somehow gets me to sleep, but the smell is genuinely beautiful. It’s the lavender that makes me feel calm and relaxed and I just want to snuggle into my duvet a little more.

However, it costs about £14 for the small-ish bottle (75ml). If you use it every night, it can add up quickly.

So, I’m always on the hunt for cheaper alternatives.

Que a trip to Aldi.

Inside the beauty section, I spot a blue box – ‘Feather & Down’ pillow spray for £3.50. A saving of more than £10. Plus, this is the cheapest I’ve ever seen this brand for sale. Bargain!

I popped it in my basket and headed for the tills.

I’m inpatient to see if it works so when I get home, I spray it into the air.

The smell isn’t the same as the ThisWorks spray at all. It’s very different but it’s still lovely. The best I can describe the smell is similar to a fancy sweet-smelling face cream.

It’s described as ‘calming lavender and chamomile essential oils’ but there’s less lavender in this than the ThisWorks alternative.

So, when I had one of those restless nights again – I reached onto my bedside table for this spray, let’s put it to the test.

The brand claim that 83 per cent of people fell asleep quicker than usual. This is a study of 103 people – so around 80 of them loved it.

I sprayed it onto my pillow – one thing I love is how fragrant it is.

Nothing happened that you wouldn’t expect: I wrapped my duvet around me and got cosy smelling my pillow but instead of staring at the ceiling, in what was probably around 20 minutes I’m asleep.

The next morning it still smells lovely.

Don’t get me wrong, the room doesn’t smell of lavender – but my pillows still smell lush.

Going forward I’ll probably alternate my pillow sprays and stop using my phone a little bit earlier.
