Petrol stations all over Oxfordshire are struggling to provide customers with fuel, as protests held by environmental activists continue to block oil terminals across the UK.

At 4am on Friday (April 1), hundreds of protesters from the environmental group 'Just Stop Oil', formed blockades at 10 oil terminals across the country.

The group have demanded that the government puts a stop to all new licenses for fossil fuel projects in the UK. If they do not, the protestors vow to continue to disrupt the country’s oil infrastructure.

Several petrol stations around Oxfordshire who source their fuel from these major terminals have been hit by the protests.

A store worker at the Shell garage on London Road said: “We’ve got a little bit of diesel left, but it will probably only last until the end of the day.” While a worker from the Sainsbury’s petrol station at Heyford Hill said: “Our fuel will be out by this afternoon.”

Oxford Mail:

A few other stations seem to be getting by. A worker at Horspath Service Station said: “We’re okay at the moment, and I’ve just placed an order for next Tuesday. We’re charging £1.76 for diesel at present and £1.67 for petrol.”

A worker at the shell garage at Yaunton Service Station said: “We’ve got some fuel, but we’ve been extremely busy because no stations nearby have fuel. People keep coming in saying they can’t get any anywhere. The Birmingham depot where I get my deliveries from has promised me more fuel tonight, 40,000 litres in one of their tankers. I get that every two days.”
