As we all prepare for Christmas, it is easy to forget those who will spend the festive season in dangerous faraway places.
We have recently welcomed home troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.
But while they, and we, enjoy Christmas with our families, colleagues, some from our county, have replaced them in the world's danger spots.
