THE A34 north of Oxford has reopened to traffic following a crash this morning between a tanker and a lorry carrying flour.

One driver needed hospital treatment after the two heavy goods vehicles collided near Bicester but his injuries were not life-threatening.

An air ambulance was called but was not used as the driver was taken to hospital by road.

The accident happened at 11.30am on the northbound carriageway between the Weston-on-the-Green turn and junction nine of the M40. The crash led to long tailbacks - with reports of congestion as far south as Didcot.

Martin Dellar, a spokesman for the Highways Agency, said the northbound carriageway was fully reopened at 2.30pm yesterday after police accident investigators finished working at the scene, and Highways Agency staff removed debris from the road.
