PLANS have been put forward to convert a house in Banbury Road in Oxford into a China Tea Culture Centre.

Jiangong Zhang has submitted the planning application to the city council to convert the ground and first floor of 92 Banbury Road into the business centre.

The application, put forward by the John Phillips Planning Consultancy on behalf of the developers, said the aim of the venture was to ‘provide a cultural facility for the growing Chinese community in Oxford, and to provide a venue for business and investment in the city’.

The planning statement added: “The aim of China Tea Culture Ltd is to build solid relationships based on mutual understanding and trust between the people of China and Oxford, using the centuries-old medium of tea to promote social and business interaction.

“The innovative model is intended to make momentus impact in Oxford across social, cultural and business domains.”

Tea tasting sessions would take place on the ground floor, with meetings held on the second floor.
