COMMUTERS are being held up to nearly an hour in journeys which would usually take a couple of minutes.
Temporary lights are in place to fix a leaky pipe on Botley Road, but are being put up and down during rush hour to reduce traffic.
One commuter took to social media site Twitter to say: “It took me 45 mins to move all of 0.3 miles today, heading into Oxford.
“Turned round eventually and went home.”
Thames Water said: “We’re continuing to work on the broken sewer pipe using temporary traffic lights, and still expect the job to take seven to ten days to fix.”
They also released a statement earlier this week apologising for the delays that the lights are causing.
The temporary traffic lights are at the Ferry Hinksey junction on Botley Road– a 30mph zone–going into Osney Mead.
Another commuter added: “Outbound traffic is queueing back through St Giles and past the Westgate. Going to be a fun couple of weeks!”
