A MUSIC festival has launched a ticket that only allows access to a selected area of the festival site.

Towersey Festival, which will be held at Thame Showground over the bank holiday weekend, is offering visitors a 'Festival Taster Ticket' that enables entry to the Festival Green only.

Organisers say it offers 'the full Towersey experience', with the Green hosting a rolling programme of live bands, performers and entertainers.

But taster ticket holders will miss out on the attractions enjoyed by revellers with access to the whole site, including sets by bands The Shires and The Proclaimers.

Instead, visitors will get a front-row seat for The Frumptarn Guggenband, one of the UK's leading Guggen bands, who combine brass, percussion with stunning costumes.

Other live acts on the Festival Green include Abingdon dance orchestra The Radio Days Big Band and internationally-acclaimed street theatre act The Chipolatas.

Several acts will provide live music for the Green's main bar, while there will be workshops, stalls and a StoryTelling Tent.

An adult taster ticket costs just £12 in advance, which is considerably cheaper than the £40 full festival day ticket, and festival director Joe Heap hopes it will attract visitors.

He said: "Our Festival Taster ticket is the perfect way to enjoy just a taste of what Towersey Festival has to offer, giving visitors an affordable opportunity to see some great bands, and sample our improved range of craft beers and ciders.

"It's fantastic for families too, as there's plenty to keep younger visitors occupied - from engaging adventures told by some of the UK’s best storytellers, to live shows, to drop-in creative and play activities."

The festival runs from Friday 24 August to Sunday 27 August. For tickets and more details see: www.towerseyfestival.com
