A SOUTH Oxfordshire choir will sing its final tune after half a century of entertaining locals.

The Letcombe Singers are folding 55 years after they first began entertaining Letcombe, Grove, Wantage and other nearby areas.

Their farewell concert will take place at Letcombe Regis Village Hall on Friday, from 7.30pm.

The group's secretary Gill Skidmore said: "We will be presenting a semi-staged performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's 'Trial by Jury', followed by a full buffet supper, during which the choir and individuals will be singing some of the choir's favourite repertoire - with some audience participation.

"We hope to go out with a bang rather than a whimper, and all are welcome, especially former members or supporters."

The group have raised thousands of pounds for charity over the years.

Tickets - which include dinner - cost £12 from the Vale and Downland Museum or Bretts' pharmacy. They can also be bought over email, through letcombe.singers@gmail.com or over the phone, on 01235 766655.
