A SCHOOL offering specialist education for learners with autism is on its way to becoming a 'centre of excellence'.
LVS Oxford in Begbroke, near Kidlington, has been rated 'good' by the education watchdog Ofsted following an inspection last month.
In a hugely positive report, Ofsted stated: "The headteacher [Louisa Allison-Bergin] has transformed this rapidly improving school into an ambitious place of learning, for pupils and for staff.
"As an expert in autism education, she is rightly determined that the school will develop into a centre of excellence."
The private school teaches children and teenagers aged 11-19, who have autism, Asperger Syndrome or dyslexia.
Ofsted's inspector wrote: "The school is deservedly earning a good reputation, locally and nationally, for strong practice in teaching and supporting pupils who are on the autism spectrum.
"Leaders and staff are committed to the headteacher’s vision that pupils who have autism spectrum conditions are not ‘invisible’ or forgotten.
"They are mindful that pupils must not be educated ‘in a bubble’ but be challenged and develop resilience."
The school, which opened in 2014, had previously been rated 'good'.
